Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT)

The Government has given green signal to the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) which will replace the existing Civil Services Preliminary Examination from 2011. According to the new pattern , the candidates will have to appear in two objective-type papers having special emphasis on testing their "aptitude for civil services" as well as on "ethical and moral dimension of decision-making" under a Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). more »


Civil Services Examination

An overview

Union Public Service Commission conducts Civil Service Examinations every year to select officers for various services including Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS), Indian Foreign Services (IFS), Indian Revenue Services and other Group 'A' and Group 'B' central jobs. The examination is a three stage process which consists of Civil Services Aptitude test ( Earlier Civil Services Preliminary Examination) , Main Examination and the Interview. more »

Life Cycle of Civil Service Examination

  • UPSC issues notification for Civil Services Examination usually in Nov/Dec every year
  • Last date of Application usually in January/February the exact date will be mentioned in Notification
  • Civil Service Aptitude Test CSAT ( Earlier Preliminary) Examination will be held in April/May. more »
